Poppy field

Why should I remember, it happened many years ago?
Why should I care when it was people I didn’t know?
So why should I wear a poppy, that will even show?

The answer to these questions is very plain to see
Because these strangers you see, died for you and me;
This is the reason our country today is even free.

These soldiers fought for our freedom
And risked their lives at that;
Some even lost their life during combat.
Putting them in graves thereat;

Their family and friends had anxiously waited
For their soldiers to have come home;
Leaving their hearts aching, for their pain had then grown.

Some soldiers never did arrive
Because they did not make it out alive.
It was amazing that some actually did even survive.

Now do you understand why we should remember?
Every year, when it comes to November?
This is why we need to change that “I don’t care attitude” or demeanor.

(In memory of all the soldiers who risked their lives for us,

so that we may have the freedom we have today, thank you!)
